Biography and Background:
Allyce Mardesich leads Atlassian's global Channel Programs organization which is responsible for all outbound go to market programs, benefits, and incentives. In addition, she oversees the overall Channel Partner experience through Atlassian's Partner Portal and direct Channel Partner communications. Atlassian does not have traditional sales or professional services teams, which makes their go to market approach unique and provides strong opportunity for partners. Atlassian's partner community is also unique and highly collaborative with one another. In the past 2 years with Atlassian, Allyce and her team have focused on designing scalable new programs to recognize partners based on technical skills and motivate solution go to market efforts. Prior to Atlassian, Allyce was the leader of VMware's Partner incentives and reward programs.

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
In the past year, I launched our Solution Partner program to recognize and reward partners for their technical skills demonstrated through online training and achieving Atlassian Certifications. This was a major accomplishment for Atlassian and our partners which included the introduction of the Atlassian Enablement Academy learning management system for partners, new Partner Accreditations, and additional sales and marketing benefits to help partners differentiate and grow their business. After such a huge milestone in our programs, we focused efforts on reinforcing the foundations of our Partner Program through improvements to our Partner Portal including communications, content, and the introduction of new tools for reporting and account management. Our goal has been to connect our partners to the information and tools they need to increase productivity. We want them to spend less time searching for content and more time adding value through customer engagements.

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
In the coming year we will continue increasing our focus on growing Atlassian's enterprise business. Our campaigns and solutions go to market around DevOps, ITSM, and Agile at Scale have been successful, and enterprise customers provide a tremendous opportunity for Atlassian Data Center products and partner services which makes it a winning combination. We plan to more tightly integrate partner services into our direct enterprise marketing efforts and also invest heavily through our Development Funds program in this area with partners.

What honors, awards, or commendations have you won over the past year?
My leadership team recognized me this year for transforming our former Partner President's Club into a Partner Advisory Council. We have an amazing partner base at Atlassian, and through our Partner Advisory Council we discuss strategic topics that will influence our go to market for years to come. In addition to gaining valuable feedback from some of our top partners, we also work with them to set priorities on what initiatives will have the most impact to our overall partner community.

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
I admire Joanna Gaines, co-host of HGTV's Fixer Upper and co-owner of Magnolia Homes among other ventures in Waco, Texas. She pushed outside her comfort zone to do what she loves and leverage her creativity. Now she is wildly successful, and yet remains humble and appreciative of things that really matter which are family, friends, and helping others.

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Have fun and enjoy every minute! That's what that time in your life is all about. Oh, and practice that foreign langague you were forced to take, you'll be glad you did.

If you could master any new job-related skill, what would it be and why?
It would be how to write SQL to pull data and analytics. My analytics business partners make it look so easy, and I know it would be a huge time saver if I was able to self serve when I need data at crunch time.

What's the best book you read this past year and why did you like it?
The Phoenix Project by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr and George Spafford. I was skeptical at first. I thought it would be a highly technical book about DevOps for IT people. It does an amazing job of demonstrating the ultimate goal of any team within an organization is to support the key results of the overall business vs. solely their own team goals. If you can break down silos between teams, gain alignment, and open the lines of communication you get better results. It sounds like a no brainer, but I think most can agree it's easier said than done.
