How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
I spent much of 2017, concentrating on programs that helped advance our partnerships with global IT Outsourcing (ITO) providers. That started with developing positioning for our top ITO partners which illustrates how our services integrate into their outsourcing solutions. I also focused heavily on enhancing our enablement, solutioning and catalog materials to help the ITO partners more rapidly respond to their customer inquiries. My ambition is to make it easy for our key ITO partners to include us in their solutions and to identify where and how our capabilities fill their customer needs.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
My 2018 goals are specifically around partner centricity and growing our business with ITO partners. My plan this year is three pronged. Firstly, I want to broaden awareness about Sungard AS within our partner ITO organizations to new practice areas and new regions. Secondly, I hope to encourage deeper engagement between us and our ITO partners with joint market planning sessions. And lastly, we want to identify and develop joint SGAS & ITO pre-packaged solution capabilities for specific industry use cases.
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
I admire Melinda Gates for her philanthropic work and leadership, her laser focus on issues that impact women worldwide, and most recently her emphasis on getting more women into technology.
What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Worry less, explore more, be confident in your abilities, be persistent in the face of adversity, and speak your opinions.
If you could master any new job-related skill, what would it be and why?
When I first entered the IT industry I was adept at coding in a few programming languages. I found it fascinating to be able to "program" a machine to manipulate data and solve complex logical problems. If I could master a new IT skill today, I would choose network engineering. I think having a deeper understanding of networking would bring me additional perspectives on the opportunities resulting from the current explosive growth of data and the challenges associated with the movement of that data.
What's the best book you read this past year and why did you like it?
I'll have to pick two books. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry; for the bringing me back to my youthful fascination with space, time and physics and reminding me of watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos series with my father. And, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking; for reconfirming that my voice, though sometimes quieter than those around me, is impactful and important.
