Biography and Background:
Chessie is a Strategic Business Development Manager at Star2Star Communications. She began her career as a Channel Sales Representative for Octel Communications and continued in the channel throughout her career. Her experience includes working as a Licensing Channel Manager at Computer Associates, Director of Sales at Sparta Pewter USA, Inc, and Sales Manager at MedTel Services where she led the sales team to achieve multiple record-breaking quarters. Following MedTel, Chessie started at Star2Star in 2017 as a Channel Recruitment and Business Development Representative and was quickly promoted to Strategic Business Development Manager in January of 2018 where she continues to lead and fulfill Star2Star's strategic business objectives for the channel. Chessie has professional knowledge and training in a variety of technologies including telephony, security, internet services, network operations, applications, databases, and storage. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Walden University in 2014.

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
I developed and implemented Star2Star's Strategic Partner Program for onboarding and training new Wholesale, White Label, and Strategic partners.

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
In 2018, my goal is to continue pursuing plans for developing Star2Star's Partner program laid in 2017. I will continue improving the onboarding process for new Partners including crafting well-defined messaging for Partner training and development initiatives.

What honors, awards, or commendations have you won over the past year?
I received the Navigator's Club Award from Star2Star for outstanding performance in recognition for achieving 150% of mission and over one million dollars in revenue.

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
I admire Michelle Accardi whom I have known for over 20 years. She has been able to achieve all of her goals as a professional woman, wife, and mother.

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
I would tell my 16-year-old self not to be afraid of change, even if it wasn't what you expected, to make the best out of every situation, and to learn as much as you can every day by asking questions.

If you could master any new job-related skill, what would it be and why?
I would love to polish my professional writing skills for creating press releases, corporate reports, and developing strategic messaging in order to be a better leader and increase my value to the company.

What's the best book you read this past year and why did you like it?
I enjoyed reading The Channel Advantage by Tim Furey and Lawrence Friedman. In their book, Furey and Friedman describe how to develop sales channel systems that yield better results and create competitive advantage in order to integrate channel development as a core part of your business. As a Strategic Business Development Manager, I appreciated seeing the channel through the authors' eyes and thinking of how I could apply their advice to my role at Star2Star.
