Biography and Background:
As Director, Demand Generation & Channel Marketing, Darci owns the integrated marketing strategy for Samsung's US B2B IT business. In addition, she is responsible for development and execution of strategic programs and marketing across direct and indirect channels. She supports a comprehensive IT portfolio including smart signage, hospitality TV, desktop monitor, virtualized desktop and memory with a focus on serving customers from SMB to enterprise, in a variety of key vertical markets. Over the past 7 years, Darci has progressed through roles in Samsung's B2B marketing organization, having joined Samsung as a Channel Marketing Manager in 2011. Following the union of Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Telecommunications America in 2016 to drive a One Samsung approach to market across a rapidly evolving IT & Mobile product portfolio, Darci played an integral role in collaborating with various teams in the US and HQ to develop a mobile-first channel strategy. In 2017, she led her team through the successful launch of a new specialty channel program to drive mobile business with channel partners around Samsung's unlocked smartphones, tablets, chromebooks and wearables. In 2018, we'll continue to see a One Samsung approach to market, but with renewed focus in core businesses.

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
At the end of 2016, I worked closely with our HQ counterparts to develop a program strategy that better supported business expansion with our mobile-first partners as we geared up to drive aggressive growth selling mobile solutions that incorporated our unlocked smartphones, tablets, wearables and KNOX mobile security offerings. In 2017, I lead my team to the successful launch of our mobile channel program in the US, driving partner co-marketing and sales-recruited on-boarding with planned enhancements heading into 2018. At the end of 2017, I spearheaded the complete revitalization of our existing STEP channel programs across our display and memory businesses, realizing the need to increase channel relevancy, profitability, demand creation and ease of doing business. Heading into 2018, I will continue to drive this top priority with current plans to launch in the latter part of the year.

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
Focusing on traditional display/memory businesses, we will restructure our channel programs to support partners integrating technologies across display, signage, AV, commercial TV and memory. Following our acquisition of HarmanPro, we will strive for collaborative program offerings that back the complementary nature of the solutions we're bringing to market. To support long-term growth with partners, we will address the unique needs of various channel business models, rolling out programs that are mutually relevant and profitable. We will capitalize on brand value and reinvigorate focus on B2B customer loyalty, driving customer demand and increasing support of demand driven through our channel.

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Malala Yousafzai represents the true meaning of leadership and bravery. Selflessly risking everything, she pursued her passion to support the greater good and would not let herself be silenced in the face of extreme oppression. Instead, she used her dire circumstances as an opportunity to raise her voice on behalf of those who could not.

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
It's ok to have no idea what you want to do with the rest of your life (when you turn 40, you still won't really know). Enjoy every incredible thing life has to offer. travel, explore, be completely open-minded. Plan for your future enough to give you the direction and purpose to leave you fulfilled, but live every minute for today and the moments that leave you in awe, inspired or laughing until you cry.

If you could master any new job-related skill, what would it be and why?
Story-telling with an audience. Presentation skills are not exactly a new skill, but one I would love to master. While experience (or maybe age) has me less concerned about things that may have been stress-inducing years ago, I would like to improve my ability to be an influential, inspiring and thought-provoking story teller rather than a presenter.

What's the best book you read this past year and why did you like it?
I read an autobiography of Elon Musk. It left me fascinated with the human brain and inspired by one's ability to envision a reality that most of us could barely comprehend. Having had twins in March 2017, I have read parts of several books related to surviving the first year w/ twins, being a working mom and how to function without sleep. Some provided interesting insights but none could adequately relate to my new reality as a career-focused new mom. With little spare time, immersing myself in a book has transformed into a compilation of blogs, TED Talks and podcasts.
