Biography and Background:
I have been working at Gemalto for four years as a Channel Program Manager under Channel Program team . I earned my BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies and began working in the Information Technology industry. I started my career as a Business Analyst in the IT department of Forwarder Company, then joined IT Distributor as a Product Manager looking after the Microsoft business and APC. After a few years in development , I decided to join the APC team as a District Manager, taking care of the IT Channel. I spent two years earning my MBA and started to explore regional roles. I became a Marketing Manager of North Asia for Emerson Network Power before joining Gemalto in my current role. As a Channel Program Manager at Gemalto, my responsibilities are to enhance the existing Cipher Partner Program and ensure harmony with the Worldwide Program. I'm working closely with different teams and listen to partner feedback to ensure the program is successful, as well as to build our worldwide partner ecosystem. My goals is to build a strong partner program that helps drive incremental revenue, improves operational effectiveness and be easy for our partners to work with.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
Our mission in 2017 was to enhance the Gemalto Cipher Partner Program to become a worldwide program. One of the key objectives was to get buy-in from both internal and external stakeholders, make sure the program was consistent. The role of Channel Program Manager is important in that I negotiate and work closely with Sales Managers & Partners to gain their buy-in and also communicate with different team members. One of my keys to advance to channel business was to lead the operations meetings with different departments, such as, Legal, Finance, Sales Management, Sales Ops, Customer Services, Systems, and IT, and also to define the requirements and make sure they were deliverable, measurable, and workable as the new requirements. I spent over six months driving the work process and reviewing the possible outcomes with different team members. The program was launched successfully with the help of different departments and had minimal business impact. We are continuing to communicate with partners on how to they can build their business in the Cybersecurity industry. Indeed, we worked closely with key partners to ensure they got the Certification required by the program so they can support our valued customers.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
In the upcoming year our goals are to help our organization drive revenue growth and profitability, drive partners' success, make Gemalto easier to do business with, and to provide different Gemalto resources to support partners and expand their coverage into different industries that are concerned with Cybersecurity and Data Breaches. We aim to develop different tools and become an operationally excellent organization for partners to work with. These goals are extremely important to enhance the existing partner networks and to expand the coverage to different partners in the ecosystem, such as, Technology, Alliance, Embedded, Cloud Based, etc.
What honors, awards, or commendations have you won over the past year?
In my professional life, I earned the Operational Excellence in Distributors Award and the Best Performance of Distributor Award from CA / Microsoft. I recently earned the MVP award from the Gemalto Channel team, who recognized my leadership efforts on Program roll out successfully. In my personal life, I also earned the volunteer worker award from the Catholic Church, who recognized me as a great kindergarten teacher in Sunday school. All these honors are helping me to keep improving myself every day. By helping different people and making my career successful, I am living happy every day.
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
The woman that I admire is J.K. Rowling, as I love to read her fantasy series books. She really believed in herself to start writing her Harry Potter fantasy series over the past decades, as well as become a famous writer and producer on the Harry Potter movie series. I admire how she lives her life. One of her quotes says, "We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already." which is a wonderful reminder of how we can help to build a different world.
What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
My advice would be to take advantage of different opportunities to build personal growth and development my career. Try different things and get to know myself better and discover what areas are my strengths and weaknesses, and try to overcome the weaknesses. That would help make life even better. The more we know ourselves, the more we can do better. Develop a "Can-Do" attitude, which helps to build social skills and positive thinking. I would definitely tell myself to "never give up" to build positive thinking and motivate myself do better every day.
If you could master any new job-related skill, what would it be and why?
I would like to be able to speak in different languages. Communication is very important for first impressions, and with language skills we are able to communicate with different nationalities, which is definitely an advantage when building relationships. Being on a team that works closely with different organizations from diverse countries, I believe language skills help to kick off a better conversation and help others see the hard work you've done to learn their language, especially when you need to communicate through different media. If you know how to speak their language, they will treat you as real partner.
What's the best book you read this past year and why did you like it?
I liked the Harry Potter series the most this past year. We need to keep ourselves young and dream of things that are different than real life to learn how to relieve pressure from work and enjoy our leisure time by reading something that helps us feel young and excited. I can share the story with my children as well, so when we watch the movie we can enjoy the scenes together with a common understanding.
