Biography and Background:
Leyland has a long history in the channel. In her career at Digital, Compaq and HP, Leyland has led and won with the channel across multiple segments (commercial, pubic sector, enterprise, &SMB), in multiple geographies selling infrastructure, end points (PC and print) as well as services. She is well-respected in the channel and wants to make a difference.

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
In the past year, there has been much change in the Canadian channel through consolidation, transformation and/or changes in leadership. Leyland;s focus is accelerating growth and loyalty with the Cdn channel ecosystem. This means coming up with innovative go to market ideas , strategic alignment with senior channel executives and exceeding channel expectations. At the core, Leyland knows that the channel can achieve great things, and even greater things together with HP. We win together. Always

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
HP Canada is dedicated to the channel. In the Solutions business (print and managed services) the channel represents well over 90% of our revenue. Our stated FY17 goal is to grow with our existing channel and expand into the traditional copier channel with our new A3 (MFP) portfolio launch. We will do this with marketing tools which include digital assets, video and selling tools. HP's planned acquisiton of Samsung's print division is built on the #1 premise that we can win with the channel.

What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
Awards won in 2016/2017: Director, Zonta Club of Oakville (held position for over 8 years) First place, female, Stokes Bay Triathlon CRN Top Women in the Channel, 2016

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Mary Ann Yule: Mary Ann brings passion, insight and leadership to HP Canada. She has been a source of disruptive change. I admire most her positive attitude, her willingness to laugh at herself and most importantly her ability to simplify. She just gets things done AND has fun. She is an inspiration to myself and the women of HP Canada.

What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
A career in technology is the best career choice for a young woman. It is an industry that is changing,, evolving and re-inventing itself. You will be able to learn from the time you begin your career until the end. And if you are learning, you will be growing. What challenges us, changes us. And a career in technology is a career that will give you many options to try new things, meet incredible smart people and make a difference. Becaue technology can make life better for everyone, everywhere

If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
Kathryn Janeway - Captain of the USS Voyageur, Star Trek - The Next Generation Why? Kathryn Janeway is exploring new worlds, guiding a team and making a difference. She both teaches and learns. She is humble and brilliant. She inspires trust. And I have always wanted to live in a Star Trek world.

If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
Lake Como, Italy Italian food is the very best. And Lake Como is in the heart of the Italian mountains. The history, culture and sights are said to be amazing. And in the mountains, one is reminded of just how small we are in the world we call our home.
