Biography and Background:
Janine Soika has over 25 years experience in B2B sales and marketing, with 19 years experience working with IT Channel Partners to successfully help them grow their business. Ms. Soika has held Channel Program leadership positions with Arrow Electronics, Level 3 Communications, HOSTING, and Verio, an NTT Communications Company in addition to CenturyLink. Having also worked for a Solution Provider she has a unique 360 degree view of the channel having worked for a Distributor, multiple Service Providers and an IT Solution Provider. As the Sr. Business Development Manager with CenturyLink, Ms. Soika supports CenturyLink's Channel Alliance partners by helping them effectively leverage CenturyLink's full IT and Telco product portfolio to increase their monthly recurring revenue. Ms. Soika has been included in CRN Magazine's "Top 100 Most Powerful Women of the Channel" in 2016, 2013 and 2009. She holds an MBA in Corporate Finance and a BBA in Marketing from Pace University, New York and resides with her husband and two sons in Denver, Colorado.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
I have directed sales programs to help support our channel partners with the transition into Hybrid IT and managed services and to focus on aligning solutions to customer's business goals and objectives to deliver higher value to customers while solidifying our partner's role as 'trusted advisor.' Last year we introduced partners to our proprietary Solution Transformation Methodology sales approach. This approach helps our partners engage in higher level more strategic conversations with customers at the "C-suite" executive level. We helped train our partners in how to engage in conversations to uncover their customer's business goals and objectives following an established sales framework which leverages tools and techniques that help them arrive at the right solution to align with their customer's goals and objectives. This approach helps our partners build stronger, higher value relationships with their customers by fulfilling more of their customers' IT requirements, solidifying their role as trusted advisor and keeping the competition out of their accounts.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
My goals for our channel partners this year is to continue to help them make the transition into selling hybrid IT and Managed services utilizing a consultative sales approach. We have also launched a sales acceleration program designed to accelerate sales of specific CenturyLink services utilizing an established and proven framework based on sales best practices combined with tailored sales support. This program is helping our partners expand into new service areas while reducing sales cycles and increasing close win rates.
What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Meryl Streep. She's a highly successful actor and musician and a mother of four children. She has a strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism. She has reached the pinnacle of achievement in her career receiving over 160 awards including multiple Academy and Golden Globe Awards. She is a wonderful role model for women who want to excel in their career while also being a loving mother. Her quote resonates with me "Integrate what you believe in every single area of your life. Take your heart to work and ask the most and best of everybody else, too."
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
The technology industry is a great industry for young women whether you are technical or not. There are so many facets of the industry providing tremendous growth opportunities for a wide range of interests including sales & marketing, finance, operations, human resources, management, research, and many others. The technology industry is always new and exciting, there is a steady flow of new innovations changing the industry landscape, so there is never a dull moment and a lot of opportunity for growth.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
Well based on my answer to the women I most admire, Meryl Streep, I'd have to pick Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada. She is strong, competent, assertive and albeit somewhat abrasive but she commands respect and doesn't waiver from what she believes in and is results driven. Characteristics I greatly admire.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
I have been very fortunate to have traveled to many countries throughout my life and have been to 6 of the 7 continents so far. But there are still so many places I would love to see, it's hard to pick only one, but for now I'd have to say Ireland and Scotland are high on my list. Ireland because I have heritage there and I would love to visit "The Valley of Love" and Newgrange. Scotland would be an easy trip from Ireland and I'd love to see the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye.
