One of our "Power 100 Vendors"
Biography and Background:
I started with IBM in the PC Division in the inside sales organization. I also spent time in sales operations before moving to a field sales role. As a field seller I wore many different sales hats end user sales, Tier 2 reseller sales (during this time the IBM PC Division was sold to Lenovo), retail sales, distribution sales, and Global sales, covering Coca-Cola and GE, before moving into sales management. I chose to enter sales management back in the channel managing the inside DRC sales team, then I moved into a field management role covering distribution for our Data Center Group. I truly loved the time I spent in the channel during my career which is why I wanted to take the next step in my career in this area.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
In the past year, I helped onboard a new distributor, Promark, who specializes in storage and data center products. I also helped implement our new speed to price strategy within distribution, single distributor lock in for end user deal registration, new pay terms for DCG orders, as well as grew our DCG business by increased revenue and increased number of buying partners by over 500.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
In this next fiscal year I am taking on a new role covering North America Channel Services. It is my goal to grow our services business by at least 30% year over year, increase the number of services offerings as well as grow our Partner Sold Partner delivered offerings and partner set. As a result, this will increase Lenovo's profitability within the channel.
What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
Selected to represent Lenovo at the Women in the Channel event in NYC in December 2016 Promoted to Channel Services Sales Director, North America
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Michelle Obama. She is the picture of poise and grace. She manages to balance her personal life. being a mom, with her professional life, her career, and still finds time to volunteer and create new platforms for the younger generation. To me it's all about balance and giving back and she does both very well!
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Go after what you want, do not let your age, gender or lack of experience hold you back. Be open to being coached, learn every day. and be accountable. Always hold your head high, speak with confidence and do not be afraid to say you don't know (however go find the answer). Be kind and respectful and never burn a bridge.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
Sanda Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, in the Blind Side. I love that she was so loving, unbiased and welcoming of another child into her home. I admire her strong will, speaking out and supporting this young man in what she believed was right. She not only did great things for the young man, but she taught her children how to be accepting, welcoming, and nonjudgmental.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
Paris. It's the history, the culture and the cuisine. I would love to walk around exploring the city, visit the museums and churches, stroll along the Seine and sit at a cafe soaking in the culture and ambiance. I am also a huge foodie and would love to take a cooking class and learn more about French cuisine.
