Biography and Background:
Over the last 7 years, Betsy has been instrumental in introducing new Veeam technologies to the market. For the last 4 years, she has focused specifically on helping service providers use these game-changing technologies to streamline and expand their businesses. Betsy relishes her role of championing the cause of service providers within Veeam - and then championing the cause of Veeam to the company's 14,300+ service provider partners. Betsy has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry, with a concentration in systems management and BC/DR (business continuity/disaster recovery).
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
Cloud and Service Providers are increasingly important channel for Veeam, and growing this network of partners is exactly the area on which I've focused. In 2016, we increased the number of partners in our Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) program by 40 percent. I've also helped our traditional reseller partners to get set up to sell cloud-based services.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
Get all of our Veeam resellers also selling Veeam-powered services. We have a unique opportunity to help our resellers get to the cloud, build recurring revenue, and remain relevant to their customers. This also helps our VCSP partners build their channel and gain greater access to markets and customers. Leverage new Veeam products and our flexible VCSP program to displace legacy backup software commonly used by service providers
What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
I was promoted from a mother to a grandmother, which is the best promotion I've ever gotten. I also lobbied for - and received - a promotion from a marketing role to a full-time program management role for our VCSP program.
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Mariska Hargitay. She is compassionate and a strong advocate for women's rights. I also like her character on Law and Order SVU, who's an effective and successful woman in a traditionally male role. She obviously has emotions, but never lets them get in the way of doing her work and doing it well. She's also an unapologetic, unwavering advocate for women.
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Do it! Tech needs more woman. And despite the hurdles women in many tech organizations face, it is a fun and rewarding industry, with lots of opportunities for problem solving, creative expression, collaboration with smart people, and even adventure! There's rarely a dull moment, and there's money to be made if you're willing to work hard and try new things. It's not always easy being a woman in tech, but it's well worth it.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
The Little Mermaid . It probably sounds shallow. However, I've always wanted to be able to sing, and I love to swim (although I don't really enjoy scuba diving). Ariel can do both (and without a regulator and oxygen tank). Sometimes you do something just because it makes you happy. That's okay.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
Tokyo, Japan. I've traveled a lot for work, but not much in Asia. I'm not well-versed in Japanese culture, so it would expand my perspective. And if it's all expenses paid, it's wise to choose an expensive city.
