Biography and Background:
Ariel Schwieg is the Channel Sales Manager at Atlantis Computing, a virtural workspace provider. Atlantis recently relocated Ariel to Canada to run the North American channel program. Previously, she managed over 50 Atlantis partners in the UK and Scotland, providing customers with a product that can save money on IT projects and boost performance within their infrastructure. She works closely with the channel and distribution team at Atlantis to analyze the information coming from partners to help keep the technology relevant. She also streamlines this information across all levels of the business - sales, marketing, technical and ops. She maintains alignment with distribution to ensure a smooth and efficient two tier channel model. Schwieg loves to travel and has lived, worked and studied in many different countries. To count, she has traveled to 34 different countries. She currently resides in Ontario, Canada.

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
I grew the channel business at Atlantis by onboading nearly 30 new partners over the past two years. I helped train those new partners and build on relationships with existing partners by traveling around the UK, which also contributed to securing new business. This put Atlantis in the position to expand our reach into the partner community and enhance our partner recruitment efforts. We now have over 100 partners at the company that are qualified to sell, pitch and help grow the Atlantis 'dream'. We have consistency across channel partners and have increased the overall partner experience. By traveling around the UK visiting with partners, this also raised our visibility to partners across distribution channels.

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
Ensuring trust in the channel and expanding the North American channel program are big goals for me next year. It is important to provide a product that the channel not only loves, but trusts. This is not only important to Atlantis, but also our partners who are selling our products to customers. I have worked to instill this trust in the UK, and now look forward to doing the same in North America as I transition to a new region.

What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
I've been focused on UK Channel Sales for the past 2.9 years at Atlantis Computing. Due to my hard work and success in the UK, I have been promoted to run the North American Channel Sales and relocate to an area in North America of my choosing. My roots are in Canada, and I have relocated to Ontario to run the North American Channel Sales for Atlantis. It's a true honor to receive not only the promotion to run the entire North American region, but also pick the location to run that portion of the business from.

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Amelia Earhart. Amelia is known for being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. One of her goals was to travel around the world as she had a sense of exploration and true curiosity of the world we live in. I personally relate to this curious nature as I love to travel. I've been to over 34 countries already and look forward to continuing this exploration in the years to come.

What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Work hard and keep a positive attitude. The power of positivity cannot be understated. If you approach every task and challenge with a positive attitude, then good things will follow. Not only will your coworkers value you, but your productivity will increase.

If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
This is a no brainer for me! Ariel from the Little Mermaid. My admiration first begin with Ariel as we have the same name, but soon I realized we had a lot more in common. While I am also the youngest of my sisters, she was always off running onto the next adventure and pursuing her dreams, no matter the obstacles. I find those similar characteristics in myself and think it's important to step out of your comfort zone and go after what you want.

If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
This is a tough one but I'd say a city in the Philippines. I love to learn about new cultures and traditions, taste different foods and experience the many different islands. There are so many options in this country- from island hoping, to charity work, to relaxing by the beach. I can't narrow down a specific city, as I'd want to travel around the entire country!
