Katie Boeh is the Director of Channel Marketing & Communication at APC by Schneider Electric. A graduate of Purdue University, Katie has been with Schneider Electric since 2011, holding various sales and marketing positions, all centered around the channel. She is passionate about promoting excellence with regard to partner profitability, support, enablement and experience.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
In 2016, I helped create and implement our cross-channel marketing strategy targeting the education vertical (specifically K-12), which was arguably our most successful initiative last year, boasting double-digit growth in both targeted revenue and net new opportunities. We are continuing that effort this year. I support the initiative in my role as Director of Channel Marketing through education, enablement, financial programs, and awareness. This year we've added a K-12 Server Room Makeover Contest to generate demand among school districts, in which we'll award $10,000 to the school most in need of an IT Makeover! If a channel partner submits on the winning customer's behalf, that partner will also receive $1,000. Last year APC by Schneider Electric launched the physical infrastructure industry's first dedicated partner program targeting managed service providers, with the goal of enabling partners to monetize proactive power management & monitoring as part of their business practices. We are seeing great success with almost 300 partners enrolled in the program and solid growth in transactional revenue among the enrolled companies. We are continuously developing and enhancing the program, and we recently launched a collection of demand-generating content for our partners to use when pitching the offer to their customers.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
1. Add more qualified partners and move existing partners up through the tiers of our program so they reap the maximum benefits available to them. 2. Further improve our Partners' Experience with us through attractive profitability programs & offers, customized communication plans, and streamlined & efficient processes. 3. Increase the amount of recurring revenue going through partners by continuing to enhance the Managed Services Program.
What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
2016 CRN List of 100 People You Don't Know but Should
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
I've always admired Tina Fey. I think there's something vitally important about a woman in the public eye who is smart, funny, and fearless. I've always felt that she exudes the same kind of confidence I try to convey, which is that of a woman who knows who she is and refuses to apologize for it. She's not disrespectful or overly vulgar, but rather, she emits a witty, quiet confidence that I admire and think is so valuable.
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Don't be afraid to take on new challenges outside of your job description - regardless of your industry. It's when we feel most uncomfortable that we make the biggest gains in knowledge, experience and confidence. Contributing to projects and initiatives somewhat outside of your scope serves a dual purpose - in addition to providing a great learning experience, it usually results in an increased level of exposure to leadership or adjacent teams, thus building your professional network. It should go without saying that anything you do that is "extra" cannot take away from diligently executing on your primary objectives.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
I'm sure I'm supposed to pick a strong female character, but - Tony Stark (AKA IronMan) has got to be the coolest movie character ever - superhero or otherwise. Take away his suit of armor and what is he? Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. So if this really is my hypothetical movie fantasy, I'm the female version of Tony Stark - maybe I'm Toni with an "i." And I'm a total badass.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
I'd go to Sydney, Australia. It's been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, it's just such a tough trip to plan because it's so far away. I feel like I'd want to go for 2 weeks to make the trip worth the flight, and that's a big time commitment.
