Biography and Background:
As vice president of business and cloud sales for ADTRAN, Meggin Sawyer leads a team of sales and engineering experts dedicated to creating value through cloud and network solutions for end users around the world. Prior to her current role, she was vice president of carrier sales at ADTRAN, where she led a team of sales and engineering experts responsible for supporting the build-out and sale of business network services with the largest U.S.-based service providers. Sawyer joined ADTRAN in 1999 as a territory manager, and since that time she has served in a number of positions of increasing responsibility within the company, ranging from business development manager to national account manager. Prior to joining ADTRAN, Sawyer served in computer telephony and integration sales with Ingram Micro and regional sales with Sprint. Sawyer holds a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Kansas. She resides with her family in Huntsville, Alabama.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
Sawyer leads a team of sales and engineering experts dedicated to creating value through cloud and network solutions for end users around the world looking to leverage managed services to create more lucrative revenue streams. This team has developed a first of its kind managed services program: ProCloud Subscription Services. ProCloud Subscription Services was the brainchild developed from several partners concerned about delivering a best-in-class experience for their customers as they migrate to higher bandwidth application requirements, but at a cost they could afford. Often, infrastructure is ignored in favor of delivering new applications, most of which are cloud based and the unintended consequences is a poor experience using that application. Procloud Subscription Services provides best in breed, feature rich infrastructure solutions, while delivering it at a monthly cost for their clients.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
I'd like to help our channel increase their productivity and grow their business with relevant technology services. I hope to do that by delivering easy to order, activate, install and maintain technology that increases their performance and value with their customer. By offering our award winning solutions via a subscription and cloud performance based model will help to support this objective.
What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
Meggin Sawyer has recently been honored as Channel Visionaries' TOP 55 Visionary Cloud Channel Executive; CRN's 2017 Channel Chief; and listed as one of Women in Business and Professions Awards' Women of the Year.
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Margaret Thatcher, she owned the highest office as a female leader and was able to enact policies that benefited not only the people in her country, but around the world. She was a true role model for all women, and someone I look up to as an example to live by every day.
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Look at where the technology is moving and develop your channel around that. Nobody wants to be left behind when it comes to innovation, so following the trends in the industry and keeping pace with those changes is the key to maintaining long term success.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
Harry Potter, because he is an innovative problem solver. No matter what challenge or problem arose, he always met it head on and conquered it, which is a trait that is vital to anyone's success overall.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
Jerusalem. It is a city full of architectural and religious history.
