Biography and Background:
Shirley Peterson is the longest-serving CMIT Solutions franchise partner. She opened her business in Fort Worth, Texas back in 1999 when the business model focused on the residential market. In 2003, Shirley embraced the move toward servicing the small and medium-sized business community. Her determination to succeed and foresight to build a great team have resulted in several awards over the years, including Franchise of the Year in 2014. Shirley spent the first ten years growing her business. Today she is reaping the rewards of that hard work, forever grateful for the opportunity to help her clients succeed!

How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
In 2016, I made an investment decision to bring on more talent. One of my philosophies is to surround myself with great people and then give them the tools and training they need to invest in our clients. We are experiencing remarkable results right now in 2017! Our team is growing. And it's making an impact!

What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
1. We are going to double down on the investment decision I made last year: hire more sales people and set aggressive sales goals. 2. We are going to maximize opportunities to educate our clients. It is a changing landscape for cyber security, so we will continue to add more layers of security and education for our clients protection. 3. Recognized for service excellence, our goal this year is to create even more value in the area of outstanding customer service.

What honors, awards or commendations have you won over the past year?
I was selected by CMIT Solutions, Inc. to be our representative at the International Franchise Association Convention this year. As the longest-serving CMIT Solutions franchise partner, it was one of the greatest privileges in my professional life to serve in this capacity. CMIT Solutions of Fort Worth was also recognized as a top finalist in the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award for 2016.

Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Rachel Carson. I still remember folding back the pages of her remarkable book, Silent Spring. A student of nature, she introduced the environmental movement and taught us to think differently about the world we live in.

What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
I recently learned about a young business woman who took over ownership of a well-known Strawberry Farm in the greater Fort Worth area. By 8am every morning this young entrepreneur has mud on her boots. The technology industry isn't any different. If you want to succeed, you better have mud on your boots by 8am!

If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
Scarlett O'Hara. She was a spectacular problem solver and she never ever gave up!

If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
Sundborn, Sweden in a heartbeat! Carl Larsson- Garden is the home of Carl and Karin Larsson. He was one of Sweden's most beloved artists, and she was a trendsetting designer long before her time. Ready to be inspired and re-energized, I am packed and ready to go!
