Biography and Background:
Alessandra Brambilla is Vice President, Worldwide Small & Medium Business (SMB). She has proven leadership abilities to HPE by having a track record of driving sales and solution initiatives that deliver increased profitable revenues for HPE and partners. She has over 24 years of technology business experience, with deep expertise in both the Value and the Volume business models and strong understanding of Enterprise, Public Sector, SMB and Consumer sales motions. She has experience in Country, Region and Global GTM. In her current role, she is responsible for global strategy development and execution that drive sales and business results for HPE's SMB business, leveraging the Indirect Channel and HPE regional sales, product and GTM organizations.
How have you personally helped advance your company's channel business over the past year?
2016 was a successful year for HPE and partners with growth in our SMB business, and in 2017 my team and I are focused accelerating growth faster than the market with our partners. Key to our success is implementing a focused approach in areas which we know will generate profitable revenues for HPE and partners: Hybrid IT, power the Intelligent Edge and services- led solutions. Our strategy is to develop the correct SMB targeted portfolio and GTM strategy that includes both our leading traditional IT products and emerging disruptive IT technologies. As HPE executes strategic acquisitions to further strengthen our leadership in Hybrid IT, such as Simplivity and Nimble, we quickly integrate them into our SMB portfolio. Our objective is to continue to support our channel sales efforts in our strong traditional IT business, while enabling our partners to sell the disruptive technologies that their SMB customers are demanding. We are closely aligned with the regional sales, telesales organizations and partners to implement the right programs and campaigns that identify prospects with a high propensity to close, and we have provided our channel partners with an SMB centric solutions portfolio and tools to enable them to close more business.
What are your goals for your company's channel business over the next year?
Customers are undergoing a digital transformation; Channel partners enable them to implement the right technology strategy to achieve their business outcomes. The partner ecosystem helps our customers accelerate innovation, implement hybrid IT and power the Intelligent Edge by bringing together the IT solutions and services that deliver true digital transformation. We want our partners to marry our products, services and solutions with their vertical expertise, services and integration capabilities, and their IP to deliver a truly differentiated solution to our customers. Developing and supporting the right ecosystem of partners with this expertise, and nourishing them to overachieve is my goal.
Outside of your family, please name a woman you admire and why:
Michelle Obama is an intelligent woman that has demonstrated grace, dignity and integrity under the scrutiny of the public life. She somehow managed to find the work-life balance that we all try to achieve, while being a strong, positive influence to the world. She is a role model for women, and men, everywhere: her work to make the world we live in better, her support for all children, her obvious love for her family, her partnership with her husband and her willingness to be a leader in areas that were important to her makes her someone I admire.
What advice would you give to young women who want to begin careers in technology?
Understand the technology and business environment that interests you, do your homework and know the market and capabilities required to succeed and develop those skills which fit your interests and abilities. Start networking early, talk to people who are doing jobs that interest you to understand what is appealing and to develop mentors and potential opportunities. Always take charge of your career, focus on continuous learning and development. Be an innovator and change agent, add value to the business and never be afraid to take on a challenge.
If you could be any movie character for one day in real life, who would you be and why?
James Bond is a very interesting character - dashing, handsome and leads a life full of adventure while visiting some of the most interesting places in the world. He meets fascinating people, and, even though some of them try to kill him, is always ready for challenges that come his way and manages to survive. He is capable out out-smarting even the most devious villain and has to think quickly to win. Most importantly, he always gets to play with the best, most technologically advanced toys in the spy industry. I would enjoy having his English sense of humor.
If you could travel to a city you've never been to before, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?
I have travelled most of the world with my job which delivers the benefit of meeting people of many different cultures. I would love to visit is Easter Island, because it evokes a sense of the mystery and adventure and but also affords me the opportunity to explore a totally different culture. Besides getting to know the locals, I would look forward to contemplating the statues (moais) that Easter Island is known for. Another appeal includes being able to disconnect from the world as I know it, to ponder the history of the island while being surrounded by nature.
