Work/life balance is more of an ebb/flow. There are times when your professional life requires more of your attention and there are times when your personal life demands your dedication. I pull up frequently to assess if the balance is out of whack in one segment of my life over the other. Maintain open communication with your family and listen without being defensive when either side of your life is telling you that you they need more. I can't recall a time when I failed at work because I tended to my family first.
