Judy Odom, 2003

After Odom co-founded Software Spectrum with her former husband and a former accounting colleague in 1983, she came to realize over her first decade in technology that service drove customer interest more than anything else. Soon Spectrum was growing, while one of its chief competitors – software direct sales titan Egghead – was shrinking and shedding its service business. Odom and Spectrum took advantage by scooping up Egghead's clients in the corporate, education and government sectors and rehiring former Egghead employees. By its peak in the early 2000s, Spectrum was considered the world's largest software reseller. Odom left the company when it was sold in 2002.
