7 Ways To Be The Best You

Each and every day we must strive to be the best version of ourselves we can be. The choices we make on a daily basis affect our overall wellbeing––mindset, physical body and spirit. How we respond to the challenges we face and the successes we have impacts our happiness. What fills your heart and makes you truly happy?

Here are seven ways to be the best, happiest YOU can be.

  1. Find your purpose.

We are all at different stages in our life but all want to find our purpose and live a happy life. Many of us still trying to find our purpose here on earth. Constantly reevaluate to make sure your actions, words and thoughts are inline. Take the time to truly think about what you are doing at this current moment and that you are taking the necessary steps to get there. If not, change an action out of your daily routine to pave the path to get there. I am constantly looking at my life and making sure I am doing what makes me happy. There are times where I question what I am doing, but the question I continually ask is…are you happy? As long as that answer is yes, then all is good in the world.

  1. Express what you are grateful for.

Wake up each day and state the things you are most grateful for. Whether you journal and write them down or close your eyes and state them out loud. It can be a close friend or relative who supports you or it can be someone you don’t even know, the farmer who grows the produce you eat. Every morning I think about five things in my life that I am so grateful for and how those things or people help shape my awesome life.

  1. Surround yourself by good people.

Be mindful of who you let into your inner circle. Surround yourself with positive people. Remember, negativity feeds off of negativity. If you have more positive, happy people in your life, you will attract more positivity and goodness. My circle is a positive one. I keep the negative people at a distance and know how much I can take. You do the same.

  1. Get your body moving every day.

It so important to get your body up and moving every day. Gets the blood going and increases circulation. Choose what works for you but if you have the ability to move your legs, than do it! I love to walk and do so every morning. Taking in the fresh air and beautiful sounds of nature is a pretty awesome way to start the day.

  1. Practice yoga and meditate.

Yoga and meditation offer so many benefits for the mind, body and spirit. The first step is getting on your mat. We all have very busy lives, but it is important to take the time for you. Yoga is being fully present at that moment. Not thinking about the past or future ahead.  

  1. Eat simple and clean food.

It is important to nourish our bodies with REAL food. As a Type 1 Diabetic, I am mindful of everything I ingest. Anything I eat or drink affects my blood sugar levels. Know how your body reacts to food. Make sure you are getting a good balance of protein and fiber in your diet. I stay away from anything processed and high in sugar, especially refined sugar. I could talk for hours about this subject!

  1. Be present. Laugh.

Be fully present in life’s moments with the people you are with. Put down your cell phone and iPads and truly connect and have meaningful conversations with those around you. You’ll never get those moments back. What I would give to have another conversation with my dad… And don’t forget to laugh every day! Humor is so important. There is nothing better than a good belly laugh.
