Dell Exec Chris Wolff On Why More Women Are Needed In Tech

Dell's Chris Wolff discusses her rise in the industry and lessons learned along the way.

Attention all non-techies: You might want to consider a career in tech.

That’s the message Dell’s Chris Wolff is trying to spread to women.  At the Women of the Channel West conference, Wolff spoke to CRNtv about her rise in the industry and the lessons learned along the way.

“I’m about as non-techie as you can get,” she said. Wolff is the head of Global OEM and IoT Partnerships at Dell Technologies. She previously worked as the SVP of Dimension Data’s Group Cisco Alliance before being poached by Michael Dell.

“I thought for sure I’d be a lawyer, ended up in tech completely by accident and fell in love,” added Wolff.

Wolff hopes her own story will encourage other women to enter the industry.

“I think women have an intrinsic interest in making information accessible.  We’ve had to teach that with kids – we’ve had to work with our parents. We’ve had that whole spectrum.  So, we’re great communicators,” said Wolff.  “The more people we can get who are good communicators the better whether they know how to code or not.”
